Spirit Airlines offers a convenient and affordable way to travel, but its pet policies are often a point of contention among flyers. While the airline does allow animals in the cabin, there are strict rules and regulations that must be followed.

Spirit Airlines allows emotional support animals in the cabin free of charge. However, you must provide proof that your pet is an emotional support animal, such as a letter from a medical professional.

Booking a Flight with a Pet

To book a flight with a pet, you must call Spirit Airlines' reservations department. You will need to provide the following information:

  • Your name and contact information
  • Your pet's name, breed, and weight
  • The type of carrier you will be using
  • Your flight information

Spirit Airlines will then confirm your reservation and provide you with a confirmation number.

Traveling with a Pet in Cabin

When you arrive at the airport, you will need to check in your pet at the ticket counter. You will need to present your pet's health certificate and proof of vaccination. You will also need to pay the pet fee.

Once you have checked in your pet, you can proceed to the security checkpoint. You will need to remove your pet from the carrier and carry it through the metal detector. Your pet will also be scanned by a security officer.

After you have cleared security, you can proceed to your gate. You will need to board the plane early so that you can place your pet's carrier under the seat.

During the flight, your pet must remain in the carrier at all times. You cannot take your pet out of the carrier for any reason.

When you arrive at your destination, you will need to claim your pet at the baggage claim area. Once you have claimed your pet, you can proceed to your final destination.
