What is Pet Sematary Movie About?
Pet Sematary is a 2019 American supernatural horror film directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer and written by Jeff Buhler. The film is based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Stephen King. It stars Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, John Lithgow, and Maria Bello.
Plot
The story follows Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), a doctor who moves with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two children from Boston to Ludlow, Maine. They soon discover that there is a pet cemetery in the woods behind their house. When their cat Church is killed by a car, Louis buries him in the pet cemetery, but the cat returns from the dead, now a malevolent and aggressive creature.
The Wendigo
The pet cemetery is actually an ancient burial ground for the Wendigo, a malevolent spirit that takes the form of a large, dog-like creature. The Wendigo is able to bring the dead back to life, but only as twisted and evil versions of their former selves.
Tragedy
When Louis's daughter Ellie (Jeté Laurence) is killed in a car accident, he buries her in the pet cemetery in the hopes of bringing her back to life. However, Ellie returns as a Wendigo and begins to terrorize her family.
Confrontation
Louis must confront the Wendigo and try to stop it from destroying his family. He is helped by Rachel, who has also been resurrected from the dead, and Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), an old man who knows the Wendigo's secret.
Conclusion
In the end, Louis is able to defeat the Wendigo and save his family. However, the experience has left them all traumatized and they are forced to leave Ludlow.
